Guillaume de Lustrac recordman du marathon en marche arrière avec sa médaille
Guillaume de Lustrac pendant ses entraînements au marathon en course arrière

On Sunday, Guillaume de Lustrac, one of our former students, achieved an impressive and unique feat: breaking the world marathon record... in reverse!

At the beginning of the year, Guillaume set himself this crazy challenge. He thought it was impossible, but he still prepared very seriously in just 4 months. Now, he can be proud of himself, as he covered the 42.195 kilometers in 3 hours and 25 minutes, making him the new world record holder in this discipline, and thus pulverizing the old record, set at 3 hours and 38 minutes. The recipe for his success? An excellent physical preparation, an iron will, and the unwavering support from his family and friends

At 29 years old, and now a consultant in carbon footprint and ecological transition, Guillaume is no stranger to sporting achievements: marathons (in the forward direction), ultra-cycling, triple Ironman (swimming / running / cycling) are just some of the challenges that Guillaume has already brilliantly accomplished in his sports career. Achievements that he also uses to raise awareness and highlight much more sensitive issues such as climate challenges and the 8 other planetary boundaries.

We are very proud and admiring to see our students achieve and surpass themselves in such projects, whether during their time at school or afterwards. One thing is certain: we will closely follow Guillaume's next achievements, as we are just as admiring as we are intrigued by his future challenges, and we now know that with him, the impossible becomes possible!
