The MYP5 and DP1 students from EIIBS recently attended our successful Careers Insights evening, where 22 guests (parents and community members) from various career domains came forward to deliver "deep-dive" presentations and participate in a speed-networking event.
The students were careful listeners, asked pertinent questions, and were animated in their interactions with our visitors. The feedback from students and guests has been overwhelmingly positive.
Here are the feedback of some participants:
Presenters comments
"It was great for the students to be exposed to so many different careers and be able to ask their questions in such a friendly environment. Some students had clearly done some prior research and so asked very appropriate questions."
"The students were lovely and enthusiastic."
Student comments
"All the presenters were passionate about what they do, which made them very interesting."
"The ability to be face-to-face and have a discussion was a really nice opportunity."
"I was able to see that our path is not set in stone through the choices we make now as highschoolers. On the other hand, we are responsible for our own future, and we are the only ones in control of the way in which our life will end up going. Following our passions and interests is the most important thing."
"I got to ask questions relating to my own aspirations and find out more specifically about the presenters' careers."
"I understood that it is okay not to know what to do, and that while you grow as a person, so will your career."
