Our IB Student Joséphine Wins the Grand Prix at Cadenzafest Prague International Music Competition

A Remarkable Achievement for a Young Musician

Ermitage IB School Paris is proud to celebrate an exceptional achievement by one of our students. At just 14 years old, MYP3 student Josephine won the prestigious Grand Prix at Cadenzafest Prague, an international music competition bringing together talented students from international schools around the world.

Competing against 87 young musicians aged 8 to 18, Josephine stood out through her extraordinary musicality, technical mastery, and artistic maturity. After two demanding rounds of competition, she was awarded the top prize, as well as a €500 scholarship recognising the best overall performance of the event.

Shining on an International Stage

Cadenzafest Prague is renowned for showcasing some of the most promising young musicians from across Europe and beyond. This year’s participants represented a wide range of international schools and musical backgrounds, with competitors travelling from countries across Europe and as far away as Japan.

Performing on the harp, Joséphine captivated the jury with a performance that demonstrated both precision and emotion. The judges praised her exceptional artistry, noting that her level of expression and musical understanding is rarely seen in someone so young.

Her success is a testament not only to her talent, but also to the dedication and perseverance required to excel at the highest level of international competition.

A Passion for Music and a Bright Future Ahead

Joséphine’s musical journey began when she was just six years old. Since then, she has developed a deep passion for the harp and continues to explore new artistic horizons. While firmly grounded in classical training, she is particularly drawn to jazz and enjoys pushing the boundaries of her instrument through creativity and improvisation.

Her achievement in Prague reflects years of commitment, disciplined practice, and a genuine love of music. It also highlights the importance of nurturing artistic talent and encouraging students to pursue their passions with confidence and ambition.
