During this year’s winter break, 29 Ermitage students accompanied by 5 teachers and the Head of School, Mr. Chris Hunter, teamed up with students and staff from Emerald Heights International School in Indore, India, to screen more than 12000 people for vision problems.
Coming from some of Indore’s most impoverished communities, the Ermitage - Emerald Heights team distributed over 8000 pairs of glasses and sent 158 people to Choithram Hospital for cataract operations.
It has been another great year for ICU2, providing basic eye care and educating the local community about vision care and nutrition.
Well done Ermitage and Emerald Heights!
A big THANK YOU to our new partner, Emerald Heights, and especially to its head of school, Mr. Siddarth Singh, for hosting us, and to Choithram Hospital for their continued efforts and generous support!
And many thanks to the Ermitage teachers and staff, Margaret Peyrard, Zohreen Badruddin, Sandrine Tahraoui, Lydie Chevallier and Anne Kapstein, who gave unsparingly of their time and energy alongside that of all the students.
