This year, France will be hosting the Olympics for the third time in history, a hundred years after the 1924 games held in Paris for the first time. On this occasion, Ermitage has been organising its own Olympics activities related to this major event happening in the Île-de-France region.
To mark this historic moment of sport and sharing, we held our very first Ermilympics on Saturday, 25 May, at the Ile de la Commune in Maisons-Laffitte. In this natural and gorgeous location, over 800 members of our community were reunited to celebrate sports and foster core values like friendship, conviviality, and unity!
A teacher of Primary surprised her students with a handmade costume of Paris 2024 official mascot.
All the Ermitage teams got together to make this unique event a great success, and all day long, our staff was present to welcome the participants. The event started with an iconic Olympic torch relay featuring the Heads of School and Ermitage Group’s Executive President. Right after, the students were split into age/level groups with a specific rota to give everyone the opportunity to try all the available activities.
On the programme: fun games (pikeball, kan jam, cornhole…), sports, makeup and tattoos, etc. Several Olympic and Paralympic disciplines like Volleyball, Badminton, Athletics, Golf, Blind Football, Long jump, Javelin throwing, and Rugby were featured, so our students showed us how talented and sporty they all are. A big BRAVO to all the participants!
Lunchtime was the occasion for a giant picnic, giving families the chance to connect with each other and enjoy views on the Seine riverside. The event ended beautifully with prizes given to reward the best performance in each discipline.
We would like to thank all the participants - staff, students, and parents - for their involvement. The Ermilympics wouldn’t be the same without you. A special thanks to our sister school, EIM Brussels, and their representatives who showed up and brought positive energy to the event. We were glad to share this friendly and memorable day with all of you.
