Our IB DP1 students had an unforgettable scientific adventure at the stunning coastal city of Dale in Wales. From rocky shores to forest trails, they engaged in hands-on ecology fieldwork that brought their classroom learning to life.

They explored diverse ecosystems, applied real-world sampling techniques, and practiced species identification in challenging field conditions. A standout moment was estimating crab populations using mark-and-recapture methods. This activity was a true test of teamwork, patience, and scientific accuracy.

Back at the lab, they analysed their data, refined their research questions, and began working on their Internal Assessments with growing confidence. Beyond scientific skills, this trip fostered curiosity, resilience, and collaboration. DP1 students returned not just with muddy boots and field notes, but with deeper insight into the natural world and their role as young scientists in it.
