Discovering the Beauty of the Beaufortain Valley

Our CM2 students from the French Bilingual Primary school recently returned from an incredible ski trip to the Beaufortain Valley, one of the most beautiful regions in the French Alps. Known as "Little Tyrol" for its spectacular mountain landscapes and rich alpine heritage, the valley offered the perfect setting for six days of learning, adventure, and personal growth.

Surrounded by snow-covered peaks and stunning views of Mont Blanc, students enjoyed a week filled with skiing, cultural discoveries and outdoor adventures while experiencing life in the mountains.

 

Skiing in the Heart of the Alps

A major highlight of the triargep was alpine skiing. Over four half-days of lessons, students developed their skills, challenged themselves, and gained confidence on the slopes under the guidance of professional instructors. Their hard work and determination were rewarded with new skiing medals, celebrating the progress they made throughout the week.

The students also attended a mountain safety seminar led by a professional ski patroller. This engaging session helped them better understand the alpine environment and the importance of staying safe while enjoying winter sports.

 

Exploring Alpine Traditions and Local Life

The ski trip offered much more than sporting activities. Students had the opportunity to discover the cultural and agricultural traditions that make the Beaufortain region so unique.

They visited the Beaufort Cooperative, where they learnt how the Beaufort cheese, one of the region's most famous specialties, was produced . They also spent time at the GAEC de l’Argentine farm, where they learned about mountain farming, animal care, and the important role agriculture plays in preserving local traditions and landscapes.

Another memorable experience was a snowshoe hike through the valley, allowing students to explore the natural beauty of the Alps from a different perspective.

 

A Week to Remember

The adventure concluded with one of the students’ favorite moments of the week: the traditional "Boum" evening. It was the perfect opportunity to celebrate their experiences together before returning home.

While the activities and excursions were unforgettable, what stood out most was the exceptional attitude displayed by our students throughout the ski trip. Whether on the slopes, at the farm or during visits and activities, they were regularly praised for their politeness, curiosity and enthusiasm.

We are incredibly proud of the way they represented the Ermitage community. This ski trip was definitely not only an opportunity to learn new skills and discover a remarkable region, but also a chance to strengthen friendships, build independence, and create lasting memories with classmates and teachers.
