Ermitage International School: From Classrooms to Global Citizenship

Ermitage International School Paris recently celebrated a monumental milestone: the graduation of our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP2) students. Set against the stunning backdrop of the historic Pavillon de la Muette, the afternoon was filled with pride, emotion, and deep reflection. For many of these young individuals, this success is the culmination of a transformative journey that began early in the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

A particularly moving highlight of the ceremony was a series of inspiring speeches delivered by our Head of School, our DP Coordinator, and Mr. Collie, our longest-serving IB staff member, who shared profound reflections on his long-standing dedication to our educational community. The Core Philosophy of an International Baccalaureate Education

Within the IB school at Ermitage International School, education has always extended far beyond traditional textbooks and standardised examinations. Round Square and the Power of Service

Rooted in the Round Square IDEALS (Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, and Service), our students have brought values to life through meaningful action. From local charity initiatives to environmental cleanup projects and collaborative global exchanges, they have consistently demonstrated that true leadership is defined by empathy. Their Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) portfolios are not just a checklist for graduation but a testament to their commitment to making a positive impact on society. ​

Diplomacy and Leadership

Beyond the classroom, members of this cohort have distinguished themselves in leadership roles and diplomatic simulations. They have carried these lessons forward into their final year. By continuing to debate complex geopolitical challenges and speak publicly on global issues, our students learn to view the world through multiple cultural lenses, a skill that is vital for success in higher education and international careers.

A central pillar of this leadership development is the DP student council committee. Through this student-led body, our young leaders actively collaborate with faculty, advocate for their peers, and drive positive changes within the school community. By continuing to debate complex geopolitical challenges, manage community responsibilities, and speak publicly on global issues, our students learn to view the world through multiple cultural lenses, a skill that is vital for success in higher education and international careers. 

The Global University Fair and Future Pathways Chapter

At Ermitage International School, future planning is an integral part of the International Baccalaureate journey. Every autumn, our students actively participate in our annual Global University Fair, connecting directly with representatives from over 100 premier institutions worldwide. This immersive event empowers them to explore diverse educational systems, refine their academic ambitions, and approach their applications with clarity and confidence. It is this early exposure that allows our students to build ambitious, tailored portfolios long before their final DP2 year.

To complement this exposure, students receive comprehensive DP subject guidance to ensure their academic choices align perfectly with their higher education goals. This strategic foundation is further strengthened by targeted mock interviews, which allow DP students to practise articulating their achievements and build essential confidence for highly competitive university selection processes.  It is this structured, early exposure that enables us to nurture ambitious and confident DP students.

Head of School Award

Our alumni speaker, Candela, who won the Head of School Award last year, took a break from her studies in Finance and Philosophy at Boston College to share her memories from Ermitage and attest to everything she had learned from her time with us. It was deeply meaningful to welcome her back to pass on this honour.

We are proud to present this year's Head of School Award, our highest award, to an outstanding IB student in DP2. This award goes beyond academic marks to recognise a student who demonstrates a deep thirst for knowledge, leadership, integrity, and a commitment to service. Receiving this honour signifies that the student has made a lasting, positive impact on our school culture and inspired both staff and students alike.
