Round Square

Round Square is a unique educational philosophy, spearheaded by a world-wide network of over 200 schools on five continents. Member schools come together to enrich the student experience through international learning opportunities. By participating in exchanges and humanitarian missions organized with Round Square, our students become more aware of their place in today's ever-changing world.

Ermitage was the first school in France to join the network. Through Round Square, we are able to further our students' awareness of the world community and their place in an ever-changing global society. Round Square is founded on six pillars, or IDEALS, which are reflected in Ermitage's academic curriculum: Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service. By participating in trips, conferences, school exchanges, humanitarian missions and more, our students gain valuable life and learning experiences.

Leadership Conferences

Through Round Square conferences, Ermitage students have the extraordinary chance to work together with fellow international students, discussing important world issues and building a global network of lifelong friends.

International and regional conferences are held annually for each age group (Collège / IB MYP and Lycée / IB DP). International conferences focus on one main pillar of the organization and are held on a different continent each year. In recent years, Ermitage students have participated in Round Square conferences in Denmark, Germany, India, Switzerland, Thailand, South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Service Projects

At Ermitage, we ask our students to think critically about their impact on an ever-changing world. We encourage them to challenge the world they live in so they can engage more intensely on the issues facing their peers and their environment.

Students can participate in a variety of service-learning opportunities throughout the year, such as the Round Square inspired ICU2 India Eye Care Project. This program provides vision care and glasses to people in India that suffer from limited access to such services. Students can also participate in Round Square International Service (“RSIS”) projects with students from other schools.
