French International Option Baccalaureate (OIB)
With 1300 students of nearly 70 different nationalities, Ermitage welcomes families with different needs and different expectations. That's why we offer programs that can be adapted to each student's specific profile.
For international families or French families with global ambitions, we wanted to offer a curriculum that would open the doors of universities in the UK and North America, as well as the best schools in France and Europe.
Who can access the OIB?
Students coming from Ermitage's bilingual programs or who demonstrate a sufficient mastery of English can enter the International Option Baccalaureate program. This option includes a specific curriculum over two years (Grades 11-12), in the subjects of English and history-geography. It is primarily intended for truly bilingual students who will be capable of following an advanced level of instruction in both languages.
The classes in these two subjects are based on the curriculum from the American section of the French International Option Baccalaureate. Ermitage teachers are in charge of instruction, but classes are part of a separate program that is not under contract with the National Ministry of Education. The international option of the French baccalaureate is not related to the
International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP). It is a general French baccalaureate with specific classes in English.
The OIB in Application
The oral and written English exams of the French International Option Baccalaureate cover an English and American literature curriculum. The OIB also offers history and geography classes in English. This option can be selected as early as middle school and requires the student to be bilingual.
