Selecting Your Path

Ermitage recognizes that its students live in a world that is increasingly diverse and pluralistic.  Our students are compelled to confront issues, ideas, people from cultures, geographic locations and languages that are far (and often foreign) from that found in their own backyard.

Through its unique bilingual education, Ermitage teaches its students not only about communicating in different languages, but it pushes students to view the world from different perspectives – encouraging understanding, tolerance, and openness.  Our school prepares students to respect individuality, to question stereotypes and prejudice, to think critically, and to come to terms with their own value systems.  Through a rigorous, yet flexible, curriculum students come to appreciate not only their home culture and identity, but also to develop a sense of shared humanity.

Annual Evening on International Education

In January, Ermitage hosts its annual Evening on International Education.  Parents and friends are invited to take a journey into what it means to follow an international education at Ermitage as experienced through the eyes of our students.  Representatives of each diploma program, of each leadership and service program and of our university advising department are present to answer questions.

The underlying theme of this evening was to define what makes our school "international."  Ermitage boasts over 50 nationalities in our student and teaching bodies, and our faculty can teach in many languages.  Our students are international because they live (or have lived) in a foreign country, they speak a foreign language, and they are still connected to people half way around the world.

Ermitage is international because it is at the heart of our curriculum and educational philosophy.  International-mindedness is taught and experienced at Ermitage - everyday in class and with every international exchange program our school sponsors!
